Interdisciplinary Workshop on Theories and Methods VII: Social Class

The KFG Interdisciplinary Workshop continues on Thursday, January 16th, with a session led by Krzysztof Świrek and Magda Szcześniak on "Social Class." The exact time and venue will be announced.

Krzysztof Świrek - doctor of sociology and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Warsaw, where he lectures on classical sociological theory and holds seminars on critical social thought and visual discourse among other topics. Świrek published the book 'Theories of Ideology at the Junction of Marxism and Psychoanalysis' (Warsaw, 2018, in Polish), and several papers in Polish and international journals. He is a member of the editorial team of the journal View. Theories and Practices of Visual Culture.

Magda Szcześniak is Deputy Director of Academic Affairs and Assistant Professor of Cultural Studies at the Institute of Polish Culture, University of Warsaw. Author of two monographs devoted to the politics of representing class identities, structures, and conflicts in Polish culture. Her work has appeared in journals such as New Literary History, Journal of Visual Culture, Oxford Art Journal, and View. Theories and Practices of Visual Culture. Two-time Fulbright Foundation scholar (Junior Advanced Research Award 2010/11, Senior Award 2019/20) and recipient of grants from the Polish National Science Centre and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

The Interdisciplinary Workshop will take place in room K022 of the School of History, Schellingstr. 12, 80799 Munich.
